Auto stocks fall as Supreme Court bans sale of BS-III vehicles from April 1

Auto IndexShares of automakers dipped after Supreme Court today imposed a ban on sale of BS-III vehicles from April 1. The Nifty Auto index fell nearly 1% after the decision dragged by Ashok Leyland, HeroMoto Corp, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors.

 HeroMoto Corp was trading 4% down. Ashok Leyland was down 3.6%, Mahindra & Mahindra was down 0.8%, and Tata Motors down 0.6%.

The S&P BSE Sensex, was up 121 points at 29,531.43. The Nifty-50 index was up 43 points at 9,143.35.
